„Supporting education in the field of type I diabetes in adolescents – the T1DCoach mobile application”

   

The National Center for Development and Research awarded the Lublin University of Technology with the project ” Supporting education in the field of type I diabetes in adolescents – the T1DCoach mobile application” as part of the „Things are for people” programme.

Lublin University of Technology, in carrying out interdisciplinary research, will develop the T1DCoach (Type 1 Diabet Coach mobile application) mobile application supporting the education of the patient (as well as his caregiver and doctor) by shaping the correct behavioral habits of patients with type I diabetes. simulator (T1DDS discrete metabolic simulator). The developed application will be a specific coaching system dedicated to adolescents with type 1 diabetes limiting the need for direct contact with doctors and caregivers.

During the project implementation:

  • the existing simulator will be modified based on historical data on the course of the disease and simulation results,
  • the T1DCoach mobile application will be developed,
  • the T1DCoach application will be tested for interface quality and validated in clinical conditions,
  • the T1DCoach application will be available on websites for free download,
  • the results of the project will be disseminated among the people and organizations concerned.

The target group of the project are adolescents suffering from type I diabetes, their caregivers as well as doctors and youth educators.

The mobile application will use elements of gamification, which should increase the involvement of adolescent patients in the correct lifestyle with type I diabetes.

The main goal is to improve the quality of life of young people with type I diabetes and to reduce the social costs of their education and treatment.
